Technology Trends for 2020

Posted on February 5, 2020 by skhandige

Naturally, we are living in very interesting times. According to the scientist in 10 years our technologies will change so dramatically, so more than two billion people we have to change their profession and completely requalify. Even today, we regularly must work on your skills and knowledge to keep up with the progress and remain competitive. Today our technological progress and trends mostly focus on improving our living conditions. So staying up to date with modern technology trends also means caring about your comfort.

Since the 2000s, humanity has doubled the speed of progress, and people believe that this tendency will remain. Unfortunately, some scientists and economists from all around the world disagree with those people. They claim that a big financial crisis will inevitably come.  With such a pace of development, humanity will soon invent robots or androids for single people. But until this happens there is an opportunity to look at real single women profiles and enjoy their company.
According to them, it had to come three years ago, but companies from all around the world try to artificially postpone it. This has led to a situation when major technological companies tend to keep their best technologies until the crisis hits us. Thus, after the crisis, they plan to fill renewed markets with their production.

Technology Market Analysis 2019

However, it is foolish to assume that this future economic crisis will undermine future technology trends. First of all, it is crucial to understand that science trends are closely related to each other. For example, 8K resolution technology implementation highly depends on the development of 5G networks. Thus, companies that are interested in the implementation of 8K are ready to invest money in 5G network technologies. Therefore, it is pretty hard to predict what technology will we have in 2020, especially at the end of the year

Even though everything may change in a moment, there are many interesting and promising key technology trends that we will see in 2020. For example, in 2019, international car companies created the foundation of future changes in our car industry. Yes, here we are talking about electric cars. Also, if we have touched this topic, the very fast development of electric cars will set a higher requirement for our electricity generation, and overhead power lines. Thus, we can expect the appearance of new technologies of reusable power supplies and ways to store this energy.

As you can see, the year 2020 technologies look very promising, especially concerning the human struggle against global warming. The climate on our planet is changing, and this is a fact. Unfortunately, those changes are not always good. On the one hand, we started to invest more in energy-saving technologies, but on the other hand, we may have no control over climate at all, so we can’t precisely predict when and where it may hit us.

What will be popular in 2020

Okay, now, when we had scared you with our pretty negative prognosis, the time has come to assume that everything is going to be well within our grasp, and we will handle all problems. Apart from all known and possible unknown problems, the year 2020 looks very promising. So, what’s new in technology we will see in 2020, and what next technology trend will be the most popular one.

1. Car autopilots

The year 2019 has proved that autonomous cars are possible. It is foolhardy to believe that autonomous cars will completely conquer our roads in 2020, but we can expect that autonomous trains, trucks and other industrial vehicles. But it is a fact that sooner or later, we won’t have to manually drive our cars, and 2020 will be the year of first effective implementation of ground vehicles autopilot.

2. 5G networks

Even today, we clearly see that 5G network technology is a game-changer. It not only will dramatically increase our download and upload speed, but also will bring us much closer to 8K resolutions, and the internet of things. We expect that in 2020 5G networks will appear in every major city of the US.

3. Predictive and personalized medicine

Again, via the help of 5G networks and the Internet of things, we will have a number of wearable gadgets that will help not only to monitor our health conditions but also will allow doctors to more precisely prescribe medicine. Ideally, this technology will be able to predict our heart issues way before we experience some symptoms.

4. Computer Vision

By the word “vision,” we mean special algorithms and technologies that can identify places, people, pets, items, and objects collected by their sensors or even simple cameras. You can see those technologies in your smartphone when it recognizes your phase during a selfie. In 2020, we are going to witness the increasing effectivity and popularity of those systems. Plus, we expect that, during this year, major American cities will use these technologies on surveillance cameras.

5. Extended Reality

You have already heard about VR, MR, and AR, but in 2020, we are going to use an Umbrella term Extended Reality (XR) to cover all already existing and new technologies that create digital experiences for us. Mostly this term refers to Virtual and Augmented reality. We can expect that with the massive availability of 5G networks, our XR technologies will completely change our world of digital entertainment.

What technologies will die in 2019?

Today, our world is changing very fast, and today we would like to do something more than just sharing new technologies trends with you. Thus, here we are going to discuss technologies that will disappear in 2020. Yes, there are still people who use, for example, Windows XP and drive gasoline cars, but it doesn’t mean that those technologies are prevailing and remain in trends.

1. Windows 7 and Windows Phone

It seems that Windows Phone was dead even when this mobile operating system was released in 2010, but, at least back then, they had some interesting features. Well, today, Windows on phones looks like a purely redundant and useless thing. On the other hand, Windows 7 was one of the greatest x86 graphical operating systems this world has seen. It was released in 2009, and by 2020 it has already become hopelessly outdated.

2. Ground phone lines

Personally, I have a couple of friends who still use those. As you may have guessed, phone ground lines have become pretty useless for common citizens, unless we fear the nuclear apocalypse. 5G networks are promising to be incomparably faster and convenient.

3. 3D TVs

You can’t fight against modern trends in technologies, and 3d TV proved this fact. Yes, this technology had some potential, but, first, this potential was never realized, and, secondly, VR and future XR technologies left no chances for rudimentary 3D TVs.

Forecast for IT-sphere in 2020

Of course, when talking about the top 10 new technology, we can’t avoid talking about its sphere, as these two are very closely connected. Today, humanity mostly concentrates on miniaturization and algorithms, so often IT-sphere changes way faster than technologies. Obviously, none of those spheres can’t exist alone. Thus, to know what to expect from technologies in 2020, it also is important to pay attention to modern trends in IT-sphere.

1. Artificial Intelligence

As you may know, AI is our alpha and omega, and according to Elon Musk, AI may become our death sentence. Nowadays, we are completely surrounded by various AIs. For example, your smart fridge has one, you teach one each time when you use Google search, and you enjoy one when you take photos via your smartphone, and those are only small examples. In 2020, we will see more AI with more advanced algorithms, but don’t worry, it is too early to worry about getting killed by it.

2. Internet of Things

And again, miniaturization and 5G networks will create a cloud of various gadgets around us, and all those gadgets will be communicating with each other simultaneously. In 2019 we saw it in various smart houses, and in 2020 we expect that our cities will become smart too, by applying this technology to control traffic, safety, and waste management.

3. You can be sure that cybersecurity will never come out of trend in the 21st century. The more devices connected to the web we have, the more potential ways hackers have to do some damage. Thus, cybersecurity is a cornerstone of our time.

4. Further development of clouding computing

Cloud computing is not something new, and this is a pretty old technology that allows us to use computers that belong to other people to process our data. For example, you can help [email protected] in their search for extra-terrestrial intelligence. But clouding computing has many problems related to security, bandwidth, and other less major issues that programmers will be working on.

5. Chatbots

Recently, due to new technologies in machine learning, chatbots have become real game-changers in the world of customer services. Nowadays, the number of websites that use this service is rising exponentially. Another great example of a modern Chatbot is your smart speaker. In 2020, we expect that chatbots will become more human-like, and maybe some of them will even pass the Turing test.

We hope that you liked our small list of top 10 technology. As you can see, technologies are developing very fast, and all that we can do is stay tuned to the news to remain up to date with modern technologies.
